They say stay in the lines, but there’s always something better on the other side.
— John Mayer

Studies show that approximately 50% of K-12 students who begin traditional schooling in music quit their instrument within the first 1-2 years and do not return to musical participation.  Of the 50% that continue traditional education, only a remaining 5% will continue pursuing their musical instrument into adulthood.  After further investigation of these unfortunate statistics, it has become apparent that the large disengagement in music continuation stems mostly from a repetitive learning atmosphere along with the musical support system of the student within the home.

Of course, music education of virtually any form can be helpful for all ages, and any starting point is highly encouraged.  However, when the investment is not made into making music a top priority in the home by forming a creative and adaptive atmosphere for learning, the likelihood of the student continuing with the instrument is greatly reduced.  The unfortunate result for many is that the significant amount of time, effort, and money that is spent on music education will produce little lasting impact on what was intended to be a long-term musical connection for their enhanced well-being.

Adapt.

Here at Music Flow, we have chosen to recognize this current state of music education and to create an opportunity that will form a true lasting impact on students.  There are now many valuable instruction options to choose from out there, but the Music Flow Difference involves the combination of these key characteristics:

Creative & Adaptive Learning Atmosphere:  Our instructors are selected carefully with the skill sets to teach students around the music genres that motivate them to learn, and to continually program instruction around these interests.  This involves both creative skill along with preparation to make each lesson resonate to build lasting enjoyment.  As students continue to grow with us, they advance their ability to create music, which is an incredibly valuable outlet and resource.  This type of learning atmosphere builds a true connection between the student and the instructor which further solidifies the motivation to continue.

In-Home Instruction:  Aside from the obvious convenience factor that in-home lessons provide as far as transportation time and coordination effort goes, there is also the potentially larger value of creating a music atmosphere inside the home.  When our creative instructors engage the student in the comfort of their home, music then tends to gain a higher level of respect among family.  Students become more comfortable with their own space for playing in the home and are then more likely to involve family in their experience.

Engaging Opportunities:  Along with the benefits of in-home instruction, Music Flow includes opportunities for collaboration and performances in front of family and friends on a periodic basis.  These opportunities build confidence in the student to take their playing skills further if they choose to participate.

Global Focus:  Music Flow is committed to a bigger picture of spreading music across our world to those who are in great need.  For each new student or family who continues enrollment for at least 3 months, we send a donation to our music partnership program with VE Global which helps provide means and materials for the music education of socially at-risk children in Chile.  So, our students receive a premier learning experience while also knowing they are impacting the lives of others several thousand miles away.
