Her favorite song is “Henry Halfhead” by Lucien Guy Montandon, which she simply loves because it’s so joyful! What Ellie enjoys most about taking lessons is learning to play new songs, with the excitement to learn challenging pieces on the piano. When not playing music, she enjoys playing games on Nintendo Switch with her siblings.</image:caption>

He loves that song because it's a catchy song about being good friends. Charlie enjoys his lessons because he really likes learning piano and being able to figure out how to play the music he hears in his games and shows. He’s excited to keep learning music and to keep improving! When Charlie is not playing piano, he enjoys creating characters and machines with his Legos.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Guitar - Eric Patti</image:title>
<image:caption>guitar - Ukulele - Voice Eric’s teaching and training philosophy is "Practice, patience, and perseverance" from both the instructor and the student. In teaching music, he understands that much of the student’s progress will occur outside of the lessons, and that consistency is key. Eric’s role is to instill confidence and technique within the session, guide students on what to practice, help combine his knowledge with their interests, and to provide students with the proper tools to flourish independently. Every student has different needs, and Eric believes in patience and understanding, providing an encouraging environment, and adapting to individual needs and learning speed. Music has been at the core of Eric’s life since a young age. Throughout grade school and college, he has participated in state-winning choirs, attended South Carolina’s All-State chorus, and continued his education in vocal training and music theory. Combined with almost 20 years of guitar, Eric has focused on songwriting and song structure, and wishes to help students find their own voice and style of writing, if they so desire. Eric earned his bachelor’s degree in the Recording Arts at Full Sail University, and has since woven his work history with session studio work, live events, indie films, designed and built 3 separate recording and mixing environments, served for a year as the house engineer for the High Desert Music Hall in Redmond, and worked alongside 2 radio stations, including Central Oregon’s very own KJIV 96.5 for their Cascade Radio Hour tour. Eric understands that once a musician finds their voice and style, having the tools to share their hard work with their loved ones, and beyond, is instrumental (pun fully intended). Whether a musician wishes to utilize these services or learn themselves how to record, mix, and/or set up their own live event, Eric is excited to be a part of it in any way he can.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Guitar - Rob Rose</image:title>
<image:caption>guitar - Ukulele - Voice Ever since Rob got his first guitar when he was 8 years old, a baby blue Stratocaster, his passion for music has remained. In his formal education, he would become involved in choir and band, learning many of the fundamentals of music along the way. He’s worked with vocal coaches such as Aria Johnson, a coach on NBC’s The Voice; as well as local celebrities like Jack Ely, the lead singer and guitarist of The Kingsmen. Influenced by such legends as Carlos Santana, B.B. King, and Corey Taylor, he began combining the two passions, focusing on becoming a singer/songwriter. Rob has been the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for several rock, bluegrass, and folk bands such as: No Re-Entry, Big Leagues and Small Dreams, Crucial Tonix, and The Groovers and Shakers; he has recorded several singles and one EP to date. As a Marine Corps veteran, Rob is no stranger to hard work and dedication. In his service, he would serve as honor guard to several high profile events such as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, President Obama’s Inauguration, and a member of the firing parties responsible for the 21 gun salute in funeral processions. He would later become a Scout for 1st LAR in Camp Pendleton. During this time, he would teach music lessons to wounded warriors with traumatic and life changing injuries and their families; providing a safe and encouraging environment for them to connect and spend time together in a learning environment. He has worked in the music industry here in Bend, for the past few years as a stagehand, audio crew, and operations manager. Rob has a B.A in communication from Oregon State University and is currently working towards a teaching license and furthering his music studies. Rob has worked with organizations such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and The Boys and Girls Clubs of America. As an academic, he believes the joy in learning is that it enables teaching; what good is knowledge if the benefit is for you alone?</image:caption>

<image:caption>guitar - mandolin - ukulele Sandra (or Sandy) has been playing guitar since she was 16, starting with blues, old time, folk, and the popular music of the 70’s and 80’s. She studied music in college in NY and later studied at a Jazz school in Los Angeles followed by many lessons with some of the best professional guitarists alive today. After a playing hiatus during the early child rearing years, she started promoting concerts and also became an artist representative, working with musicians from all over Europe, US, Africa and South America, which she continues to this day. In more recent years the traditional music from around the world has gotten her attention. Starting with Irish and Scottish music and continuing with repertoire from Brittany, Scandinavia and Quebec, she has also all the while kept her favorite songs from through the ages in her repertoire. Sandy has taught many students and also taught music at a Montessori school in her home town in upstate New York. “Music is a true gift that will provide a lifetime of joy and relaxation once you learn the basics. I hope to help you along your way!”</image:caption>

<image:caption>guitar - bass - drums - Piano - voice Born in Bend during the early 80’s, Andy developed an intense passion for music at an early age. His parents exposed him to the oldies they grew up with, ranging from Elvis and Buddy Holly to Motown and The Beatles. In 1994, while Andy was in 8th grade, a Jimi Hendrix cover band played at his school and blew his adolescent mind. At that moment, he decided to use the money he earned delivering the local newspaper on his bike to purchase his first electric guitar. Immediately, he began to learn the instrument on his own by playing along with his favorite albums of the early 90’s. It wasn’t long before he was playing in bands and gigging out regularly. Andy has played in countless bands around town over the last two decades. ‘Goodbye Dyna’ is Andy’s solo project that has released a few albums in which he writes and plays everything on them. Andy is also an accomplished drummer and can be found playing in the local band ‘The Color Study’. He is also currently playing lead guitar and singing for the Beatles tribute band, ‘Magical Mystery Four’. Some other bands he currently plays with are 'Wild Bells', 'Weez-It', 'Natty Red', and 'Toothpick Shaker'. Previous bands include 'Juju Eyeball', 'Subliminal', 'Drunk Pilot', 'Sons of Dirt', 'Blame Amy', and 'Thought Police'. Andy has been teaching private lessons for 15 years now and has also taught the ‘School of Rock’ class at Cascade School of Music. He is also well-versed in vocal training and can offer this service as well to aspiring performers. For those students looking to approach music from a songwriting perspective, Andy is able to combine vocal coaching with other instrument instruction. He was taught voice by Don Hoxie, who studied under the same instructor for Ann Wilson of the iconic rock band Heart. Andy also just recorded an original album with Goodbye Dyna at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Guitar - Mary Kellogg</image:title>
<image:caption>piano - voice - guitar Mary was born into a musical family who expressed creativity through the piano, organ, harmonica, guitar, and singing. It is second nature for her to encourage her students to bring forth their innate abilities and confidence that might not be acknowledged in traditional school settings or academic programs. Accessing areas of natural inclination that each student is drawn to can help build a strong foundation of musical skills that often springboard unique interests and goals. It was an exciting time in Sacramento when Mary was studying jazz and classical music performance and theory at American River College and Sacramento State University. Jazz vocal and instrumental programs were taking root and expanding exponentially with the expertise of internationally renowned choir director Perla Warren and world-class pianist Dr. Joe Gilman. Mary moved to Bend in 2012 and decided to further her studies in music composition and performance. She recently attained a Bachelor Degree at Eastern Oregon University where she graduated with Summa Cum Laude Honors. Highlights of her career include a USO Military Tour of Alaska with a country/bluegrass band based in San Francisco; featured performances in the Artist in the Schools program through the California Arts Council; Choir Director of the Children’s Conservatory of Music in Roseville, California; active leader and soloist of a professional quality church band in Bend; and seven years of solo performances at a venue in the Old Sacramento downtown tourist district. Mary teaches beginning, intermediate, and advanced piano. Her vocal instruction emphasizes techniques which support a full and lifted tone. For jazz vocal, phrasing is highlighted in singing both lyrics and scat syllables. Guitar teaching focuses on strong rhythm and can be combined with singing and playing favorite songs in the student’s vocal key. She has been teaching for over twenty years with a special heart-felt intent of bringing out the innate best in each student.</image:caption>

<image:caption>violin - piano - ukulele Amber began her music education at the age of eight in Ohio, when her parents surprised her with a new piano. Before they could even save their money to begin lessons, Amber had worked out all of the major and minor scales on her own, as well as creating her first violin by holding a toy guitar on her left shoulder. After enrolling in both piano and viola lessons Amber pursued a classical music education, in high school having the privilege of performing under the tutelage of renowned Boston Pops Orchestra conductor Keith Lockhart. Amber graduated from Ohio State University School of Music, where she studied viola with Emeritus Professor and ProMusica Chamber Orchestra performer Edward Adelson, as well as working with Robert Gillespie, director of one of the most extensive string pedagogy programs in the nation. After graduation, Amber expanded her musical repertoire to include violin and fiddle, performing in various folk and rock ensembles in Columbus, Ohio and later, in Portland Oregon. Here in Central Oregon, she currently performs violin, viola, ukulele, and vocals with singer/songwriter Beth Waters. Amber has been teaching piano, violin, and viola since 1995 and has been a full-time career music teacher in classroom, ensemble, and private instruction for 13 years. She prides herself on her commitment to developing confidence in young people, understanding music education to be much more than teaching a particular skill. To Amber, teaching a person how to create music opens up a whole world of expression, creativity, and self-esteem that can aid in all aspects of life. She considers each student as a unique individual, with his or her own strengths, interests, experiences, and attitudes. And it is her personal goal to work with each student to help them achieve their personal best every day!</image:caption>

In high school she took leadership roles in her choir that received first place at the OSAA Choir State Championship. She also was musical director for her A Cappella group, arranging music, teaching harmonies, and cultivating a productive and fun environment. Alex's time at Oregon State shaped her philosophy; everyone is capable of achieving musical abilities with the right individualized instruction and positive space to learn in. Her primary job is at North Star Elementary School where she will teach music and art starting this fall. She looks forward to expanding her scope of teaching and working with students of all ages through private voice and piano lessons.

      <image:title>Voice - Mary Kellogg</image:title>

      <image:title>Voice - Alex Bakkom</image:title>
<image:caption>piano - voice - ukulele Alex is a recent Oregon State graduate with her masters in music education. Her love for singing started at an early age and has developed through various choirs, musicals, and operas. She hopes to uplift and inspire students to freely express themselves and find their voice, making meaningful connections to music.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Jordan ouro Trombone / Low Brass Jordan Ouro is a multi-instrumentalist and dedicated music educator with a lifelong passion for performance and teaching. Coming from a family of musicians, Jordan began playing piano at age five and quickly expanded to drums, trombone, guitar, and more. He went on to earn a degree in Piano Performance from the Federal University of Bahia in Brazil, and spent two years in Washington, D.C. in a Music Education exchange program. Jordan’s performance experience spans church music, orchestras, choirs, and bands, big bands, accompanying vocal groups and playing in a wide variety of musical settings. As a teacher, Jordan has worked with students as young as four and as old as eighty-five, believing that “anyone eager to learn can do it.” He teaches piano, guitar, electric bass, ukulele, drums, low brass, accordion, and more. His favorite part of teaching is helping students find joy in their instrument and guiding them toward their unique goals. Outside of music, Jordan enjoys spending time with his dog and two cats, and spending time outdoors with his wife. In the winter, you can often find him teaching snowboarding at Hoodoo on the weekends.</image:caption>
